SAVE A MINUTE OR SAVE YOUR LIFE?

Driving faster doesn't save much time. In fact, studies have shown speeding only saves a minute or two per week. Even less if you get pulled over for a speeding ticket. But guess what speeding costs? Almost 10,000 lives a year. So, would you rather save a minute? Or save your life? Speed kills. Slow down.

THE COST OF DISTRACTION

As of July 1, 2020, it is a Class 2 misdemeanor in South Dakota to use a cell phone while driving except for phone calls, reading or entering a phone number, using a GPS app or emergency purposes.

The law makes other uses a primary offense, meaning you can be pulled over for only using your cell phone while driving. The fine will be $178.50.

Banned cell phone uses include texting, photos, social media, the internet, email and apps. Is using your phone while driving worth $178.50? Is it worth your life?

Keep your eyes on the road. Keep your $178.50.
